The purpose of the practical driving test is to allow candidates to demonstrate good safe driving skills and sound knowledge of implementing the rules of the road. The practical driving test will begin with a check of your eyesight. You will be required to read a standard UK vehicle number plate from at least the minimum legal distance. Next you will be asked to demonstrate you car safety checks commonly known as "Show Me, Tell Me" questions.
The main driving part of the driving test follows and will last for around 40 minutes. You will be asked to demonstrate a reversing exercise, an independant driving section and maybe perform an emergency stop in controlled conditions.
To pass the practical driving test you will need to avoid accumilating any more than 15 minor driving faults. You must also avoid any serious or dangerous driving faults.
